I do not know if it will be as useful as I had hoped. Time will tell. I have played with it and think it work well for me when traveling or hiking. It is not likely to be an every day use item at this time. If you have a lot of heavy objects that you lug around on a regular basis you might find it useful. It needs some YouTube videos.
The Pocket Shield was conceived by Chris Fry, owner of MDTS Training, and was co-developed with, and manufactured by Raven Concealment Systems.
The Pocket Shield is a flexible, modular platform which allows an individual to securely and discreetly carry a small defensive implement (such as a firearm, pistol magazine, fixed-blade or folding knife, flashlight, canister of pepper spray, expandable baton or other impact weapon, multi-tool, etc) inside the front pocket of jeans or dress pants without visible pocket clips or printing.
The Pocket Shield is shaped to ride comfortably in the front pocket of most pants, and provides consistent orientation within the pocket to facilitate quick-access and deployment of an individual’s light or weapon. The platform is made from flexible, high-strength polymer that conforms to the shape of the user’s body for all-day carry comfort; yet it is rigid enough to remain anchored securely inside the pocket during strenuous movement or weapon deployment.
The unique mounting slots on the Pocket Shield allow users to attach nearly any small knife sheath or pocket holster to the platform at a wide range of angles. It can even be trimmed by the user to facilitate achieving a full fighting grip on the weapon or to fit in smaller pockets.
The Pocket Shield not only provides a stable platform – it masks the profile of whatever is attached to it. This is especially important for those who must wear dress pants or other garments made with thin, clingy material.
The Pocket Shield has been tested and fielded both domestically and abroad in a variety of non-permissive environments, with excellent results. This simple tool is a must-have for anyone conducting low-profile/no-profile missions.
Like all RCS products, the Pocket Shield is 100% U.S.-made, and is covered by our unconditional lifetime guarantee.
I keep a Pocket Shield in my support-side front pocket to hold a ballpoint pen, a POM OC spray, and a SureFire Stiletto Pro flashlight. Instead of three things clipped to the edge of that pocket, they sit INSIDE the pocket, clipped to the Pocket Shield and readily accessible!
I need to stay deep concealed and dislike carrying extra magazines IWB because of the added bulk. This is a great solution for a spare Sig P365 magazine or any double stack. Minimal bulk in the pocket and it distributes the weight evenly so you almost forget it's there. It smooths out the profile of whatever you are carrying and keeps it from dropping down to the bottom. I use it paired with a Blue Force 10 Speed magazine pouch so it stays slim. With very thin fabrics the pattern/outline of the Pocket Shield might occasionally print a little but it's not a problem. Very useful tool.
I love the idea of this product. It works well in heavier cotton pants like jeans. Tactical pants made of polyester and cotton and spandex are to thin for this. I can see every line in the product through my pants. It printed more than the things I was trying to conceal while wearing this type of pant. Maybe a flat design, paired with this on one side to latch things to would work for thinner materials. It would also be nice if it was made of just a bit thicker material. Not displeased with the product. I just hope you can make it evolve.
This thing rocks! I've been carrying a firearm concealed for 17 years but not always a spare magazine. Never liked carrying a spare mag on my belt or just in my pocket. The pocket shield is perfect for me. Keeps my mag right where I put it and gives me the capability to carry a light and knife completely out of sight. Like I said this thing rocks. It's modular design is trick, I have a leather adjustable retension mag pouch bolted directly on it. It can be moved around to fit my carry needs. Only downside I can come across is the price. It's kinda expensive for what it is but for the modular design and being able to carry multiple things in a set order may be worth the money.
I like the idea of it. It fits in my jean pocket. I can organize my left pocket. I can fit my EDC light, pin and my cell phone in my left pocket and it is not a mess. I just start using it, and it is comfortable. I like the gray color. I am going to continue to use it. It is now part of my EDC. It is thin and durable. It is a good idea. If you want to organize your pocket, this is it.
I put off buying the pocket shield for about two years. Ordered on Sunday and had shipping notification Monday morning. Arrived Wednesday. Super fast. I did not realize it comes with hardware. This thing is amazing and fit my pocket very well. I might have to order a three pack next. Thank you!
The shield does hide what is in your pocket. When looking at the pocket it looks like something squarish is in your pocket. It does tend to move or change position a little not sure if there if it will take time to stop doing that but i still use it. I like hiding my flashlight and pepper gel behind it.
This invention has saved me so much money in the pocket knives and flashlights I would have lost over the last 4 years! Seriously, I used to loose 1-2 of each per year so I limited my price point to a Spyderco delica or less. I haven't lost one since using this. I still carry the last delica I bought. Maybe I'll give it to my son, and pick up something a little fancier since I know I probably won't loose it. So, yeah. Every day, into every pair of pants or shorts holding a delica and a Klarus XT2C flashlight. For 4 years.
This is a useful and well designed piece of kit. It fits well in my work trousers and TAD coverts. I don't find it first at all. It is flexible as it needs to curve sightly in the pocket.
