I've been using Raven holsters for a long time. Their kydex holsters are some of the best I have ever used, so I thought I would give the injection molded holsters a try, the price is a fraction of what their kydex holsters cost. So far I really like the holster, I have the G19 Perun holster as well. The jury is still out on the extra slide shield, not sure if I like it or not, still thinking about cutting it off. One thing about these holsters is that they hang lower that the kydex models, so a longer shirt is needed to conceal, not a big deal in the winter. But, I have found that some of my summer shirts are not long enough to conceal using this holster. All in all a great holster, would be a solid 5 star if it didn't hang so low, but I understand that with the design of this holster it's gonna hang lower. You are giving up a little bit of concealment for a smaller overall size.
Perun OWB Holster Glock 17
The Perun is our flagship outside-the-waistband (OWB) holster. It is the result of blending the best features of two of our most popular holsters, the Eidolon and the Phantom, to create a highly refined, exceptionally concealable holster.
The Perun is designed to be the best modular OWB “pancake” style holster on the market. It has a body-hugging design that rides high for maximum concealment. The body of the holster is only slightly larger than the pistol contained in it. This small size aids in concealment while also making the holster more comfortable while seated in a vehicle.
The body-hugging curvature of this holster is accomplished using modular belt loops. Each holster includes three pair of 1.5” belt loops (LH 10 degree cant, RH 10 degree cant, and ambi 0 degree cant), which allow the end-user to configure the ambidextrous holster body for left-handed or right-handed use, with either a 0-degree or 10-degree cant.
Retention in the Perun is crisp, defined, and consistent, thanks to innovative design features inside the holster body. The unique retention slider makes adjusting retention as simple as turning up the volume on your stereo. And unlike other holsters that use the traditional “screw through a rubber grommet” style of retention, the Perun’s retention will not back off after repeated drawing and re-holstering.
The Perun is compatible with most slide-mounted red-dot optics (like the Aimpoint T-1, Trijicon RMR, etc.) and accommodates suppressor-height front sights up to .350” tall. It is also fully compatible with the RCS Balor optic mount. The Glock Perun is compatible with generation 3-5 Glock pistols. The Perun is compatible with all small frame 9mm, .40S&W, and .357sig Glocks. Example, The Glock 17 Perun will fit the corresponding standard full sized pistols such as the .40 G22 and .357 G31. The Glock 19 Perun will fit the corresponding compact sized pistols such as the .40 G23 and .357 G32
The muzzle-end of the holster is rounded for comfort, yet has an opening sufficient to accommodate most common after-market extended and threaded barrels (with thread protectors). The opening at the muzzle is also specifically designed to allow foreign objects (like spent casings) to drop out the bottom so that nothing can block your pistol from being safely re-holstered.
The ambidextrous holster body has both inboard and outboard full-height body shields. These body shields offer some protection for your pistol from sweat, as well as protecting your skin and cover garments (especially the thin material used for linings in sport coats and suit jackets) from being abraded by the serrations on the rear of the slide. They also enhance safety by helping keep cover garments and other foreign objects from falling into the mouth of the holster while you have your pistol drawn, and aid in proper, safe muzzle orientation during re-holstering.
The holster is injection molded from a proprietary, extremely high-strength polymer blend that is significantly more durable than Kydex or Boltaron. Like all RCS products, it is made in the USA, and is backed by our lifetime warranty.
*Legacy belt attachments are NOT compatible with the Perun holster.
PLEASE NOTE: .40 S&W and .357 Sig are calibers of ammunition. This Perun will accommodate GLOCK pistols chambered in either of those two calibers. Do not order this holster thinking it will accommodate a Sig or S&W pistol, simply because those words are part of the name of a caliber. It is a GLOCK holster and will not accommodate a S&W or Sig pistol.
The Eidolon is the most comfortable and adjustable AIWB holster I have used, so it was natural for me to return to Raven for an OWB holster for competition. My sense is that more thought went into the Eidolon's design, but then an IWB holster is inherently more complex. One of the main reasons I purchased the Perun was to fit the suppressor height sights on my G17 MOS, which it does smoothly and without snagging. The initial draw is consistent and smooth. I was able to use the clip attachment from a Bladetech holster on the Perun and would like to see clips as an option from RCG for the Perun in the future. I have already recommended this holster to others.
Fast Shipping from Ravens(Many Thanks!), Perun is not a Hype, it's exactly as advertised and more! At first look, it's ready to go holster like how standard factory Glocks are good to go out of the box; but like the guns it's made for, this Holster's capability to evolve is ENDLESS! I'll admit, I HATE the Extended Sweat Shields(but I can understand why it's there), if you don't like it, CUT THEM OFF all you need is saw and some sand paper to get rid of the excess like I did, the included loops also allows you to position the holster to the draw carry of your choice(the zero can rocks and are greatly appreciated for those of us old school Raven Fans who had to wait a bit for the MD/Zero Cant for the phantoms back in the old days). Perun lives up to it's name sake and is a great holster at a cost that is impossible to beat. Way to go to Mike and the Crew at RCS! I highly recommend this holster to anyone who are looking to get a OWB holster to match their Eidolon(as much as I love AIWB with Eidolon, try holster the Glowing Heat Glock after running 300 rounds), you'll be glad you are running OWB with Perun during class.
Without a doubt the best holster for the money on the market. I’ve tried most of them and they are either collecting dust or sold, The Perun will not have the same fate. Very concealable for OWB and the adjustable retention is both easy to set and effective.
